At the beginning of the week I speculated that Afternic would have a good sales week given its pipeline (see Afternic pushes for a big week). Through Thursday morning this appears to be the case.
Afternic has two five-figure sales including Cheap-Tickets.com for $10,000 and BrandIndex.com for $10,500. When’s the last time you saw a hyphenated domain sell for five figures?
They also sold CaseStudies.com for $6,000, Quixote.com for $9,000, JYCO.com for $5587.50, and LiveLobsters.com for $5,000. A couple gas related domains sold for modest prices, JustOil.com ($200) and GasPriceReport.com ($150). Chris Chena jumpstarted a craze for gas related domains when he bought CheapGas.com for $150,000 several weeks ago. Personally, I think $150k was a bit high for that domain given the number of substitutes available. Plus, some countries use different terms for what America thinks of as “gas”, including terms like “petrol”.
.TV even got into the action at Afternic this week, with LCD.tv going for $4,200. This is a great .TV domain since it actually makes sense 🙂 LCD TVs are flying off store shelves.
Some other notable sales include CMPS.com for $2,888, FlexCables.com for $3,000, MNAcreative.com for $2,500, and TwoTools.com for $2,000.
