Tenenbaum jumps from Web.com to MediaOptions.
Domain name brokerage MediaOptions has hired Jonathan Tenenbaum as its Chief Operating Officer.
Tenenbaum comes to MediaOptions from Web.com, where he spent the last 14 years in various roles. He was the General Manager and public face of NameJet for many years and most recently served as Web.com’s Associate General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer.
This hire signals to me that MediaOptions is “growing up.” Its public hires to date have mostly been on the sales and marketing side. Hiring an attorney in the COO role suggests the company is becoming more corporate (in a good way). I suspect we’ll see some more sophisticated services coming from MediaOptions in the future.
It doesn’t hurt that Tenenbaum has deep connections in the domain investor community, thanks to his time running NameJet.
