Get faster responses with text messages.
When I get an inquiry on a domain at Uniregistry, I quickly respond via Uniregistry’s platform, which sends an email. This tends to work for the initial response. I either get a “yes”, “no”, or “thinking about it”.
But after that, a lot of leads slow down.
I recently tried responding after the initial email by sending a text. I’m not alone in doing this, but I’m amazed at how effective it is.
Even if the buyer decides they’re not interested, I’d rather get an answer than send several emails into the ether.
Salespeople in many industries have found texting to be a better way to get a response than email and phone (especially for younger people) and it makes sense that this applies to domain names.
While I’m sure that individual brokers use texts, it seems that some larger shops aren’t. I verified with Afternic that it doesn’t currently use text messages to follow up on leads. For now, its sales brokers follow up with email and phone calls.
While getting someone on the phone is nice, it’s becoming a difficult prospect in the age of robocalls.

I am set up to send and receive texts via my 1800 phone number on my NameSelling.com website and on my cell phone number.

How does that work?

I use Grasshopper’s app to send and receive texts (phone calls too) on my cell phone using my 1800 number or I can just send regular texts using my own cell number.
