DNJournal’s latest domain sales roundup is led by Bike.com, which sold for $500,000.
Residing in Austin, I’m not at all surprised to see Bike.com sell for such a high figure. I pass by at least a dozen bikers on the way to work each day. On weekends you can pass dozens of bikers on each road in the city. Perhaps it’s because Lance Armstrong calls Austin his home, and Austin has great hills and scenery, but Austinites are gaga for bicycles. Having researched the money that people spend on bicycles, maintenance, and gear, I’m not at all surprised to see that Bike.com sold for $500,000 at Sedo (according to the latest DNJournal sales update.)
Also this week, Afternic released the final sales price for WirelessPhone.com, which Afternic auctioned off in a special 30 day auction. With less than a day to go the top bid was $52,500 and I speculated it would top $100k. It certainly topped $100k!
Other big domain sales of note include Flurry.com for $50,000, WeddingParties.com for $19,250, and TimePartner.com for $18,000.
Another .ws domain sold for $800 in a private sale: VacationRentals.ws. As I discussed last week, .ws domains are starting to attract interest as internet marketers realize the value of affordable one word domains in the extension.
