Here are my five New Year’s resolutions for 2009.
I’ve never broken a New Year’s resolution. That’s because I set the bar low, such as vowing not to eat seafood (I don’t eat the stuff anyway). But this year I’m going to lay out on the line 5 resolutions related to domain names.
1. I will launch my first Geo Domain site, Lakeway.com. I’ve been working on the site for a while, and you can see a shell online now. I’m still waiting for a few customizations to be completed and I’m also working on the marketing materials at the same time. I
hoped to launch it last year but didn’t pull it off. So this is an early-2009 resolution.
2. I will build ParkingJudge, the compliment to RegistrarJudge.com, early in 2009.
3. I will continue to evangelize the domain name aftermarket to end users. Yesterday at a party someone talked to me about how he was renaming his company. He hired a consultant who helped him create a list of many, many possible company names. He said 75% of them were taken (domains registered, not actual companies). He implied they were focusing on the other 25%. I told him he should look at all of them; the ideal name may be available as a domain for purchase for only a thousand dollars or so.
4. I will continue to chase down stories for Domain Name Wire. I’ve always been proud of the site, but think the quality of articles has improved dramatically toward the latter half of 2008.
5. I will attend a greater diversity of domain conferences. This year I plan to hit DOMAINfest, hopefully Domainers Mardi Gras and GeoDomain Expo, Domain Roundtable, and TRAFFIC, as well as conferences outside the domaining circuit.

Nice looking shell to Lakeway. You must not have done the in-house xsite development on this? π
Parts of resolution #3 & 5 will merge nicely — “continue to evangelize the domain name aftermarket” at “conferences outside the domain circuit”.
Best wishes for ’09.
