Tobacco company claims sites sell liquid nicotine products using their famous cigarette brands.
The intellectual property holding company for R.J. Reynolds has filed two trademark lawsuits in North Carolina against online retailers selling liquid nicotine products.
The suits allege that the web sites sell products bearing the images of their famous Camel and Winston marks, such as in the image to the right.
The first suit is against YourECigarette.com and its owner. The second suit is against the owners of e-cigarettedirect.com and VeppoCig.com.
The sites specialize in selling so-called electronic cigarettes, often call simply ecigarettes. The first site sells liquid nicotine refills marked with the Camel and Winston brands, the other sites sell products with the Camel name and logo, advertising that they have “Camel like Flavor”.

Many e-cigarette sellers rename their e-liquid (refill liquid for e-cigarettes) and pre-filled cartridges to names other than the brand they are trying to emulate, for example Marlboro flavor might be called “cowboy” or something like that. I always thought it was silly, but turns out they were onto something.

I figured by now they would be making their own e-cigarettes. There are still a lot of places out there who use trademarked names. We were smart enough to call ours something else. lol

Agree DrmChld
Granted, e cigarettes are not that mainstream and you have to wade through all the junk kits to find the real ones. You would think Big Tobacco would be balls deep in this by now with there own products, Marlboro made e liquid at a reasonable price, I would try it.

I represent VeppoCig.com. Veppo did not use the CAMEL name or logo. RJ Reynolds has a trademark the font of Camel…not the word “camel”. Nonetheless, Veppo has changed the name to read “2 Humps”, but we reserve the right to showcase 2 camels as our image. Afterall, RJ REynolds doesn’t hold a trademark on all images of camels.

E cigarettes directly affect health and health is our primary concern to live.. The site that is selling liquid nicotine products should be taken under remand by police.

What was the outcome of these cases, does anyone know?
