Comedian demands Amy-Schumer.com domain name.
Comedian Amy Schumer has filed a cybersquatting complaint with National Arbitration Forum against GoDaddy division NameFind.
Schumer’s official website is AmySchumer.com. NameFind is the registered owner of Amy-Schumer.com.
According to historical Whois records, the domain name was registered to a Los Angeles man until late 2015. It then went under GoDaddy’s DomainsByProxy service and resurfaced in early 2016 under the NameFind LLC name.
The domain has been parked with keywords related to the comedian. DomainTools shows that it had a sale price of $3,124 at Afternic, but it doesn’t appear to currently be in Afternic’s inventory.
My guess is that NameFind will voluntarily relinquish this domain name. [Update: they handed the domain name over.]

I thought godaddy doesn’t dip into expired inventory hmmm, the ghost of Adam Dicker returns
Talkiah007 says
“Ghost of Adam Dicker returns” was he ever gone in the first place?
Joe Styler says
Namefind names are purchased in large portfolios typically containing tens or hundreds of thousands of names at once. We do not bid on domains against any of our customers.
christopher brennan says
you save that privilege for huge domains. you do know they merely trawl your listings for bids and out bid.
why not have bids only visible to those who are actually watching the domain, that might mean huge domains might have to do some work.
and i don’t think this enhances godaddys finances because so many people have given up bidding knowing that they are tipping off huge domains that someone might have an interest
Clayton says
Yea. But you’re selling your customers info. I’ve gotten two companies to admit where they got my unlisted phone number.
Andrew Allemann says
Clayton, was your phone number in Whois?
Clayton says
Nope. The business number is on who is. My personal cell phone number is unlisted. My sales agent had it as a note on my account and all the sudden people claiming to be go daddy partners (when responding to how they got this number) started calling. So they’re selling access.
Since I’m not a billionaire not like I have the option to do anything about it, and Go daddy knows that. Crooked company has even tried to slip things in legislation to push small companies out. Look at their involvement in any of the widely hated internet bills of recent past.
Andrew Allemann says
What was one of the companies that called you and said they were a GoDaddy partner?
Ron says
Godaddy needs to go thru this, and learn a lesson, they have no outs, no TOS to fall back on.
What Huge Domains is doing, by being allowed by Godaddy is not right.
This whole cyber squatting claim is legit, and the celeb is within their means to take them to court from trying to profit off her goodwill.
We know you have thousands of names, but you have thousands of employees, and you are responsible for the names you own.
