It’s time to kick-off 2017! The domain name investor community’s biggest annual meeting is on tap for Las Vegas later this month, and the energy will certainly be buzzing. But before we close out 2016, let’s take a quick look at the top five stories on Domain Name Wire last month:

4. GoDaddy is buying NamesCon – GoDaddy’s $1.79 billion acquisition of Host Europe Group will include the NamesCon conference.
5. This is big: China approves .Club, .VIP and .XYZ – Chinese residents can now host websites in China on these domain names. Later in the month, both .shop and .site were approved.
