Directnic acquires domain name registrar Fabulous.com

by Andrew Allemann — October 31, 2017 Uncategorized 6 Comments

Directnic acquires Fabulous.com but brands will remain separate.

Domain name registrar consolidation continues as Directnic has acquired Fabulous.com from Dark Blue Sea Pty, the companies announced today.

Mike Robertson, Directnic Director of Business Development, will now help manage a portfolio and business he worked for nine years prior to joining Directnic.

The businesses will continue to be operated as separate brands, with Directnic focused on business customers and Fabulous.com on domain name investors. But Robertson says Fabulous will be improved.

“Work is already in process to update the Fabulous site and infrastructure,” Robertson told DNW. “Loyal Fabulous customers need not worry though, all the tools and features will remain, with the addition of new functionality, designed to heighten the user experience. These updates will be rolled out in Q1 of 2018.”

Robertson noted, “Having spent 9 years at Fabulous previously, I have a strong understanding of what domain owners need to be successful and we will continue to focus on delivering the best service possible to our customers.”

Australian who co-founded Domain Guardians to move to U.S. for role.

Mike RobertsonDNC Holdings (DirectNic) announced today that it has hired Mike Robertson as Business Development Director.

A familiar face (and Australian accent) at domain conferences, Robertson previously co-founded Domain Guardians. Domain Guardians started as a sort of estate planning system for domain name owners. It later shifted into other domainer-focused products including domain brokerage. The company handled the $1.0 million sale of BTC.com.

Robertson got his start in the domain business as business development manager for Fabulous, an Australian domain name registrar.

At DNC Holdings, Robertson will head up activities for aftermarket, monetization and account management programs. He will be relocating to the United States.

DNC Holdings recently promoted Kellie Peterson to President, and it seems the company is in expansion mode.

DirectNIC and United Domains now fully integrated with SedoMLS Premium

by Andrew Allemann — January 17, 2012 Domain Sales 1 Comment

Customers can list their domains on SedoMLS at Premium level.

Sedo has announced that domain name registrars DirectNIC and United Domains are now fully integrated with SedoMLS at the Premium level. This means that customers of these domain registrars can add their domains to SedoMLS’ instant transfer system and also purchase domains directly through the registrar.

Both registrars were previously integrated with SedoMLS but only on the purchasing end; customers could not list their domains with SedoMLS Premium.

In terms of .com registrations, DirectNIC was the 24th largest domain name registrar at the end of September. United Domains was the 54th largest.

SedoMLS Premium is similar to AfternicDLS Premium. Registrants at participating registrars can list their domains for sale and take advantage of instant transfer technology. That means customers at any participating registrar can buy the domains in their shopping cart and immediately get control of them.

For example, last week I sold a domain name through Afternic that was registered at Moniker but purchased by someone at Network Solutions. The transfer occurred instantaneously without any involvement from me.

From a registrar perspective, the Sedo program differs by allowing registrars to add their own mark up to the price.
