Company registers domain names that will likely be used for agriculture business.
Based on recent domain name registrations, DowDuPont (NYSE: DWDP) will name its agriculture business Corteva. [Update: The USPTO subsequently published five trademark applications from E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company related to Corteva.]
I recently started noticing domain names being registered with the name Corteva and Corteva AgriScience in them. Now the registrant has escalated registrations and is buying the second level domain Corteva, CortevaAgro and CortevaAgriscience across every imaginable top level domain name.
While most of the domains are protected by Whois privacy, CortevaAgriScience.us was registered by E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company on December 13.
DowDuPont is preparing to split into three publicly traded companies, one of which will be its agriculture business. This business will combine products from DuPont Pioneer, DuPont Crop Protection and Dow AgroSciences.
The name has apparently been in the works for a while. In late October, Joanna Seddon, who is President, Global Brand Consulting at Ogilvy & Mather registered Corteva.us. Corteva.com was registered under Whois privacy on October 26.
