Web3 companies apply for domains in partnership with D3.
Two web3 companies have confirmed that they have applied for top level domain names. Both are partnering with D3 on their ventures.
Gate, which operates one of the largest crypto exchanges and has about 50 million users, has applied for the .gate domain, D3 has confirmed. The company announced its plans in early 2024.
The company will face competition for obtaining the domain name. Already, Namecheap’s Starlight and Link Freedom Group have announced applications for the domain.
Gate uses the domain name gate.com, which gives it the unique opportunity to wildcard the domain should people mistakenly try to visit something.gate.com.
Additionally, D3 partner Sui Naming Limited, which is associated with Sui Name Service (SuiNS), said it applied for .sui.
SuiNS is a blockchain-based naming service for the Sui ecosystem. According to its website, it has 500,000 names registered in its naming system.
