Exclusive: Oinkadot applies for 25 top level domains

Partnership brings together two longtime registrar CEOs.

A new partnership has applied for 25 top level domain names in this year’s ICANN TLD expansion round.

Ray King, CEO of domain registrar Porkbun, and Todd Han, CEO of Dynadot, combined forces to apply under a company called Oinkadot.

While the name is a nod to their respective registrars, Oinkadot is not part of either registrar.

King and Han decided to work together after realizing they had an interest in many of the same strings while using EarlyWarning.Report.

In the 2012 round, King applied for a handful of domains through his company Top Level Design. It successfully obtained .design, .wiki, .ink, and .gay, and later acquired .tattoo.

Top Level Design sold .design to GoDaddy in 2021, and sold the remaining TLDs to GoDaddy in 2023.

Han did not participate in the 2012 round.

The partnership has already paid $5.675 million in application fees and said it is prepared for contention set auctions if necessary.

Its 25 primary domains are:

Oinkadot is not revealing its replacement strings at this time.

The company is likely to face contention sets for some of its names.

This week, Link Freedom Group announced applications involving .bit, .hack, .loop, .moon, .sign, .stack, .stay, .super, and .zzz, but did not specify if these strings were primary or replacement strings. (If a company chose a replacement string that matches a primary string, the replacement string is ineligible.)

Oinkadot might also face contention for .anime and .manga.

While the applications haven’t been confirmed, D3 previously announced a partnership with Animecoin Foundation to apply for .anime, and Unstoppable Domains announced a partnership with Kitnsugi to apply for .anime and .manga.
