.IO and four other TLDs will see price increases in January.

Renewing .io domain names continues to get more expensive.
Identity Digital, the registry that manages the country code domain, just informed domain name registrars that it’s increasing the price on January 19, 2027. It will jump by 12% from $50 to $56.
The company is also raising the price on .info and .pro domains from $21 to $23.50 per year. .Mobi domains will increase from $40 to $51.
First-year registration costs are typically much lower. For example, right now several low-cost registrars, including PorkBun and Sav, charge under $30 for the first year.
IO is the country code for the British Indian Ocean Territory. The UK, which has controlled the area, had agreed to hand control over to Mauritius, but that’s on ice for now.
The domain extension is popular with tech companies, although it has ceded some ground to Anguilla’s .ai domain in recent years.
