NameBio can be a powerful tool if you know how to use it.

I was talking to a domain investor a few months ago who said he didn’t get much value out of NameBio, a site that tracks domain sales. When I started asking him how he used the site, I realized he wasn’t aware of many powerful features.
If you sign up for a free account, you can see 25 results per search.
The real power comes when you sign up for one of the paid plans. In addition to more search results, there are a handful of added features I find valuable.
- Top keywords – With a paid account, you can see the top 100 keywords in aftermarket sales rather than just the top ten. Start digging into this, and you can find some upward-trending keywords. More on how to do this here.
- Export results – This is huge. Want to analyze sales related to a keyword, or look for trending keyword momentum in recent years, or evaluate an entire TLD?
- Bulk search – Have a list of domains you want to check whether they’ve been sold before? Use the bulk search option rather than entering them one by one.
- Alerts – Get alerted when your saved searches trigger results, such as when a domain matching a keyword sells.
There’s also a really powerful data freebie that a lot of people don’t know about. NameBio offers a free spreadsheet of retail sales statistics for every keyword, broken down by keyword placement, on its API page. No technical knowledge required.
It’s a great resource for understanding the relative popularity of keywords, including whether they are more common as prefixes or suffixes. One thing to note is that the data is from all time; some keywords were popular back in the day, but aren’t as popular anymore.
