GigaLaw’s latest report shows a slight decline in UDRP decisions in 2025.

The total number of decisions under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) in 2025 fell slightly from the year before.
GigaLaw’s Domain Name Dispute Digest tallied the numbers across all five UDRP providers and found that decisions dropped 0.9% to 8,476 last year.
The report tracks decisions, not filings, which has two important caveats: dates are based on decisions rather than when the cases are filed, and it excludes cases that are settled or terminated prior to a decision.
The number of domains in UDRP decisions fell further, down 19%. GigaLaw’s Doug Isenberg noted that there were some outlier cases the year before that involved large numbers of domains.
While World Intellectual Property Organization touted a record number of cases last year, GigaLaw found that the number of UDRP cases decided at the leading UDRP provider fell by 3.7%. In addition to the caveats above, WIPO reports numbers that include non-UDRP cybersquatting cases, such as those involving country code domains that haven’t adopted UDRP.
Forum, formerly known as National Arbitration Forum, was the second-largest UDRP provider behind WIPO last year. It saw its decisions increase 5.1%.
Reverse domain name hijackings continue to be a trend. In the fourth quarter, 1.24% of decisions were reverse domain name hijacking.
