Larry Fischer brokered domain for record-smashing price.

The blockbuster 2025 sale of ai.com set a record, the broker confirmed today.
In a LinkedIn post, Larry Fischer of GetYourDomain said the sales price was $70 million, paid in equivalent cryptocurrency.
That’s more than double the previous record price for a publicly announced domain sale, voice.com, at $30 million in 2019.
Both domain purchases involved people who had made lots of money in crypto.
In the case of voice.com, it was a company that raised billions of dollars in an initial coin offering.
Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com, announced today that he is the buyer of ai.com.
He has big plans for the domain. The $70 million he shelled out for the domain is just the start; the business will formally launch on Sunday with a Super Bowl ad.
Ai.com will be an agentic AI platform designed so that people with little technical expertise can put agents to work.

A lot of people have been brushing this off, but I think having people way outside of the space talking about a domain selling for $70 mil regardless of which one is a net positive for domains as a whole. Even if subconsciously, it sets an expectation for when a “normie” or otherwise uneducated buyer needs to buy a domain name in the future. This + the Squarespace SB commerscial imo are huge and exciting for the domain industry as a whole.
Hey Andrew. I look forward to your interview of Kris on the podcast. 🙂
Yes, this is likely a much bigger deal than everyone things, for multiple reasons.
Worldwide headlines about a domain name, as well as showing the overwhelming dominance of how AI is impacting the world. And when those Super Bowl ads introduce a few hundred million people to this thing called ‘Agentic AI,’ that’s going to be a huge awakening.
I would venture a (probably, unpopular) guess that AI.ai is worth even more than AI.com. And I’m one of those people who believes that dot-com is still king.
But there are entire generations of young people who really don’t care that much about dot-com anymore, especially in an AI-focused world.
I figured Ai.com sold for $50 million+
Let’s not forget that Kris also paid approximately $12 million for Crypto.com in 2018.
That is nothing during the ecommerce days cars.com sold for 872 MILLION and motorhead.com for 70 million it was a much higher then now
Those weren’t domain sales
thanks for the reporting Andrew, the last huge amount i heard of in domain buying is that of chat com owned by hubspot founder i think he sell it to openai
