Domain registrar releases interesting data about domain registrations.

Namecheap has published its 2025 Domain Insights & Trends Report, sharing data specific to Namecheap and Spaceship registrations last year.
Overall, Namecheap customers registered 11.64 million domains last year. 4.67 million (40%) of those were .com domain names.
Registrations of .ai domain names grew 55% from 2024 to 2025. Customers registered 89,852 .ai domains last year, making it responsible for over 20% of all .ai registrations in 2025. Namecheap also won the business to auction expired .ai domains from the registry.
Namecheap started offering third level it.com domains last year, and it drove a surprising number of registrations: over 76,000.
Some other fun stats about registrations at Namecheap: nearly two million had numerals, over a million included hyphens, and about 0.25 million had both.
Namecheap has a lot of small customers: 61% own just one domain, and only 11.8% own six or more domains.

This story has been updated to reflect that the data is only for Namecheap and does not include Spaceship domain registrations.
