Combined entity to operate under the Markmonitor Group name.
Com Laude has completed its acquisition of corporate domain management company Markmonitor, and has adopted the name of its acquired company for the parent company.
Com Laude announced in September that it was acquiring Markmonitor from Newfold Digital. Newfold Digital, a rollup of domain and hosting companies, acquired the business for $300 million in 2022. It’s unclear what Com Laude paid for the business, but CEO Ben Crawford told Domain Name Wire in a podcast that it was a competitive process. The company says the combined entity has an enterprise value of $450 million.
This marks the fifth time that Markmonitor has changed hands in the last decade.
The company announced that it will adopt the name Markmonitor Group for its parent business. Com Laude will continue to use its current name as a sub-brand in the group.
Ben Crawford remains at the helm of the business, and former Head of Markmonitor Stu Homan will be COO of the combined company.
This post has been updated to reflect that Com Laude will continue to use its name as a sub-brand in the Markmonitor Group.

Com Laude always reminded me of something nsfw.
