After three-year battle, Lamborghini finally gets domain name.

Whois records show that Automobili Lamborghini has finally obtained the domain name lambo.com.
Lamborghini won a dispute it filed under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) for the domain name in 2022. The registrant of the domain, Richard Blair, filed a lawsuit to stay the decision.
The carmaker filed a motion for summary judgment in that suit, and the judge granted that motion in October 2024.
Blair appealed that ruling, and last month, the appeals court affirmed the lower court’s ruling.
Blair, who acquired the domain for $10,000 in 2018, had argued that he was known as “Lambo” and used that name as a username on the domain forum NamePros. However, he didn’t adopt that moniker until after he had purchased the domain name. It didn’t help his case that he asked $75 million for the domain name.
Courts consider many factors under the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). Both the district court and appeals court found that the factors in Lamborghini’s favor outweighed those in Blair’s favor.
The updated Whois record for lambo.com has redacted information about the registrant. But three datapoints show that Lamborghini finally has control of the domain:
- The registrant country is Italy
- The domain moved from NameSilo to Key-Systems. Key-Systems is part of the same family of registrars where Lamborghini.com is registered.
- The nameservers now point to AWS, which Lamborghini uses for its website

An expensive lesson in both time and energy that could have been avoided with a bit of common sense.
“You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table
There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealing’s done”
Kenny Rogers, The Gambler
Tragic outcome for Mr. Blair. Based on your reporting, he probably invested $20K in the domain totaling purchase price and legal fees.
Not to mention the emotional consequences.
A cautionary tale for sure.
Good to see Lamborghini got the domain. It feels more fitting and official now.
Nice! Now the domain really matches the brand. Good move by Lamborghini.
