A review of keywords in aftermarket domain sales that have remained popular over time.
Each month, Afternic posts a list of the top 20 keywords in domains sold on its platform. This is very helpful for domain investors when considering new domains to buy.
While I post these lists and compare the ranks from month to month, I’ve never looked back at the data in aggregate to get a bigger picture. So, I reviewed the past 12 months of lists to gain a better understanding of the data.
First, here’s a look at how many times keywords showed up (with a minimum of three):

Of course, it can be very challenging to acquire domains with these keywords at a reasonable price. However, especially as you move past the very top ones, it’s possible to get domains at fair prices and occasionally in closeouts.
