Domain name for aviation is flying to a new home.

One of the earliest top level domain names is getting a new operator.
SITA, the organization that operates the sponsored top level domain name .aero, has informed its partners that it is transferring the domain to a new operator.
That company has not yet been publicly identified, and the transaction is still subject to ICANN approval.
.Aero was formally launched in 2002. It was part of an expansion of top level domain names that included other sponsored top level domains, including .museum and .coop.
The top level domain is restricted to those in the aviation space, and verification is required. Currently, that means completing the process of obtaining an ID from SITA.
As of the end of January of this year, there were 13,422 registered .aero domain names. 101Domain is the largest registrar for .aero with 4,472 registrations.
Last year, .aero came under fire from Russia after it suspended registrations for organizations in Russia.
