Google snaps up domains related to its brands to prevent them from falling into the hands of malicious actors.

Google is getting defensive.
On Friday, the company registered hundreds of typo domains of its brands, including Alphabet, Android, and Chrome.
These are samples of the of the domains the company registered on April 25:
Alphabet typos: alphaybet .com, alphcbet .com, amphabet .com
Android typos: and2oid .com, anddoid .com, andrlid .com
Chrome typos: chhrome .com, chr-ome .com, chrompe .com
It’s common for companies to register typos of their key domains, but with so many variations, it’s difficult to imagine the company capturing all of them.
It could utilize non-existent domain data from its own DNS resolution service to determine the most common domains people type in, though.
One interesting thing about these defensive registrations is that the company doesn’t own Alphabet.com. Its corporate website is abc.xyz. In other words, it bought typos of another company’s domain name.
