Form 990 reveals salaries and contractor payments.
ICANN published its Form 990 tax return for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.
The non-profit’s total revenue for the fiscal year on a tax basis was $184.8 million, compared to $163.7 million in the prior year. The difference can mostly be attributed to higher investment income.
Salaries increased to $104.1 million from $90.8 million, and the organization reported a tax loss of -$11.9 million.
Six employees had W-2 compensation of $500,000 or more: John Jeffrey (general counsel), Sally Costerton (interim president and CEO), Gina Villavicencio (SVP, HR), Theresa Swinehart (SVP, global domains and strategy), Xavier Calvez (CFO), and James Hedlund (VP, strategic programs).
Villavicencio was paid $406,000 in severance.
Three employees made more than $800,000 when adding in retirement and nontaxable benefits.
Seven additional employees had W-2 compensation between $400,000-$499,000.
ICANN paid law firm Jones Day $3.6 million for services during the fiscal year.
