Only one of the top 10 .com domain registrars is growing

Just one of the registrar families has grown its base of .com domains over the 12-month period ending in November.

ICANN has published the latest data from Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN) covering the .com namespace. The data covers November 2024.

Here are some takeaways from this month’s data:

• Of the top 10 registrars by total .com domains under management, only Namecheap grew year over year.
• TurnCommerce’s domains under management have fallen significantly year over year. The company owns HugeDomains, and this suggests a portfolio pruning along with weaker buying volume through DropCatch, whether that’s by the company itself or its customers.
• GMO and Hostinger had big months again in November.

Below is a chart showing how the largest registrars did in terms of new registrations in November 2024, which are the latest available numbers. Note that the rankings include multiple registrar accreditations within families of registrars. You can see the list of registrars at the end of this post.
