Rebranded company forwards valuable domain name to StrategySoftware.com.
Microstrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), the software-turned-bitcoin-speculation company, has rebranded as merely Strategy.
The rebranded company still promotes its software but has the Bitcoin currency logo tacked on the end of its logo.
Interestingly, the company’s website is on StrategySoftware.com, not strategy.com, even though the company owns the premium domain name. Strategy.com currently forwards to the longer domain.
Microstrategy Strategy holds a portfolio of premium domain names it registered or acquired early on. Many are first names, such as frank.com and mike.com (its CEO is Michael Saylor). It has had to defend some of its domains against legal attacks, including emma.com and glory.com. Other premium domains in its stable include hope.com, wisdom.com, alert.com, speaker.com, and courage.com.
However, the company is best known in the domain space for its record-breaking sales of voice.com, which sold for $30 million.
I wonder if the company isn’t directly using strategy.com because it still hopes to sell it one day.
