The domain name business convened in Las Vegas this week.
I spent the past few days in Las Vegas, first at the Internet Commerce Association (ICA) meeting and then at D3’s Dominion conference.
The ICA meeting was a hit once again.
Close to 200 people registered for the event. While that’s a record, it’s still small enough to find time to connect with nearly everyone who is there.
A highlight was hearing board member Jeremiah Johnston discuss the organization’s history. It started with humble roots in 2006 and has had plenty of ups and downs, but it has flourished over the past five or so years.
General Counsel Zak Muscovitch provided a detailed overview of the group’s activities related to protecting the interests of domain name registrants.
Richard Lau won this year’s Lonnie Borck Memorial Award. He brought the community together with NamesCon and played a pivotal role in charitable efforts in the domain business.
The ICA also presented the first-ever Trailblazer Award to Atom.
As for the Dominion conference, I’m still getting my head around what I learned. More on that later.

Great seeing you and everyone else in LV! Very proud of the show the ICA team pulled off! We’re already starting to plan next year.
