Popular payment platforms make it easier to send crypto by adopting ENS addresses.
Venmo and PayPal recently integrated with Ethereum Name Service, allowing users to use .eth addresses rather than long blockchain addresses.
One of the challenges of cryptocurrency payments is long wallet addresses. Ethereum Name Service associates alphanumeric names with wallet addresses, similar to how domain names replace hard-to-remember IP addresses.
With the new integration, people sending money on Venmo and PayPal can enter an Ethereum Name Service name and the services will automatically correlate these to the correct wallet address. While ENS supports traditional domains, the integration only works with .eth domains for now.
Both payment services also have an address book, allowing sellers to store ENS names they commonly interact with.
