Domain investors get another appraisal tool, this one courtesy of Atom.
Domain name sales platform Atom has launched a domain name appraisal tool in beta.
Automated domain name appraisal tools are controversial when people don’t like the numbers they calculate. However, I find the data behind how the appraisal is calculated to be interesting.
Atom’s appraisal system considers “100s of predictive data points” when calculating numbers. While it doesn’t list all of these factors, my tests today show that length, number of TLDs the SLD is registered in, age, syllables, and whether the domain can be found in the dictionary are important.
In addition to providing a number, Atom’s tool shows which domains a TLD is registered in and which are developed or listed for sale. (For developed and listed for sale, the tool is in beta. It’s not entirely accurate.)
But at the end of the day, people will pay close attention to the appraised value. Here are three domains I ran through the system today and the results compared to other automated tools.
Ennui .com (my domain, currently for sale)
Atom: $75,500
Estibot: $88,000
GoDaddy: $11,176
AffiliateWorld.com (sold on Sedo this week for $16,000)
Atom: $23,500
Estibot: $370
GoDaddy: $6,999
StyleNYC.com (sold on Sedo this week for $2,999)
Atom: $3,399
Estibot: $250
GoDaddy: $2,063

I plugged these names into the Agent.ai tool too FWIW:
Ennui .com – $50,000 to $75,000
AffiliateWorld .com – $50,000 to $75,000
StyleNYC .com – $10,000 to $20,000
estibot… so cool, so relevant :/
Still needs work IMO.
Good thing it’s still only in Beta testing phase.
