NamesCon auction: here are the domains I’m watching

These domains in the live domain name auction caught my attention.

NamesCon is just two weeks away, and that means Right of the Dot’s live domain name auction is coming soon.

I talked to Monte Cahn and Scott Pruitt of Right of the Dot on DNW Podcast #484 about next month’s auction.

I reviewed the list this week and there are some nice names available. It’s difficult to pick which reserve names will sell without knowing the reserves. That said, these are some of the names with reserves that caught my attention.

Desktop.com – This domain has a backstory. It was acquired from IdeaLab for a business, and now that business is selling the domain to raise cash while continuing operations as Webtop.

Atlanta.org – Miami.org sold for $90,000 in April. I assume an end user bought that domain. I’m curious what the owner of atlanta.org is seeking.

Tell.com – A solid four letter .com domain name.

Islanders.com – Yesterday, I wrote about NHL teams that don’t own their corresponding .com domain name. NHL teams aren’t as active in buying matching domains as those in other sports. This domain has more uses than just hockey, though.

Sex.ai – This is likely going to be a big area of artificial intelligence.

As for domains with no reserve, I like these:

Portfolio.io – .io domains aren’t as popular as they once were, but they’re still selling. This is an excellent second level domain.

BoxingClub.com – There are many boxing clubs out there. Which one will be smart enough to buy this domain?

BetterHalf.com – This would make for a good site for a romance product or dating site.

My.info – Yes, I’m including a .info…because this is one of the best .info domains out there.

Bidding is now live at bid.rotd.com. The live portion of the auction will take place on June 6 in Austin, Texas at NamesCon.
