CentralNic adopts the name of a company it acquired in 2019.
CentralNic, a rollup of domain name and online advertising companies, has changed its name to Team Internet Group.
It’s a name the company already had in its stable. It bought a domain monetization company called Team Internet in 2019. (If you’re unfamiliar with that company, you’re probably familiar with Team Internet’s parking platform, Parking Crew.)
That acquisition ended up being pivotal for the company. It marked the company’s transition from a domain name company to an online advertising business, which has accelerated in recent years.
Despite the name change, the CentralNic brand isn’t going away. The company will continue to use it for its collection of domain name and online presence businesses.
Along with the name change, the company changed its stock ticker from CNIC to TIG. The company trades on the AIM, a submarket of the London Stock Exchange.
The company’s former ticker was somewhat problematic. It was similar to CNNIC, which is short for China Internet Network Information Center, which operates .cn.

I love the rebrand, it’s perfect for an internet company. I expect that the CentralNic name will eventually fade as “Team Internet” gains mental marketshare.
