A high level summary of my domain sales last year.
I recently calculated my 2022 domain sales. Here’s how my sales broke down:
- 32 sales
- 26 .com, 2 .gg, 1 each of .xyz, .info, .us, .org
- 25 at Afternic, 3 at Dan, 2 inbound, 1 each at Sedo and Uni
With GoDaddy’s new 15%/25% commission structure, I would have saved about 18% on commissions last year. The high percentage at Afternic is why my commissions would have been lower. (I didn’t verify that each domain was parked with GoDaddy, but I think they were.)
I should also note that my biggest sale was direct and carried no commission.
My overall sell through rate was 1.6%. I’m a bit disappointed by this; it dipped from an annualized rate of 1.7% at the end of August as I had no sales in November. For reference, I have about 2,000 domains.
In January this year, I had four sales; 3 at Afternic and one at Squadhelp.
I had my second Squadhelp sale of the year on the first of this month. One was a premium listing, and one was standard. Compare this to zero Squadhelp sales last year.
Today, I made my first Afternic sale after the commission change. Unfortunately, it looks like the system triggered the 25% commission even though the lead came through Uniregistry, but I’ll get that figured out.
What are the domain names…
Nice to be fully transparent
I don’t disclose the actual domains I sell.
Tell us the names you sold and how much do you pay for those and how much you sold them for
my 2022 was quite similar to yours
most were .com sales
5 .ai sales, 7 .io sales, 1.org sale
i also own about 2000 domains and like you and Elliot, I don’t disclose sales
Is it possible to share the aggregate of all sales?
Hey Andrew,
Congrats on the sales! Let me know if you need a hand with that Uniregistry/25% sale that you mentioned. Happy to help if I can.
My account manager took care of it, thanks though
Thanks for sharing.
1.6% is pretty good Andrew.
Thanks. I would like to edge it up a bit, but it’s always a tradeoff between prices and STR.
