General availability starts on November 15.
It’s been nearly a decade since new top level domains started rolling out to the public, but new launches are still happening: Google is in the middle of the Early Access phase of its launch of .rsvp.
The company is pitching the domain as a way to upgrade an event website. It has already struck deals with The Knot (wedding.rsvp) and Paperless Post (paperless.rsvp) to use its domains. Both are just forwarding the domains for now.
Google lists eight registrars offering the domains during Early Access: Gandi, EnCirca, Hexonet, DomainDiscount24, DomainTechnik.at, bNamed.net, Webnames.ca, and, of course, Google Domains.
During this phase, people can register the domains at a premium to regular registration fees.
At Google Domains, the price to register a .rsvp domain on the first day was $11,500, and it was $3,500 on the second day. It’s $1,150 until tomorrow morning. It drops to $250 on November 11 and then $125 on November 13.
The registrar is charging $12 for standard registrations beginning November 15.
If Poople will keep going with such nonsense, their stock will hit zero quite soon.
