You’ll pay a bit more tomorrow.
If you want to save money on .com renewals, today is your last day to act.
Tomorrow, Verisign will increase the wholesale cost of .com domains from $7.85 to $8.39. This is the amount the registry charges registrars, which (usually) tack on margin to cover marketing, payment processing, technology and profits.
So far, low-cost registrars seem to be increasing prices between the 54 cent hike and about a dollar. Some registrars have enough margin baked in that they aren’t immediately increasing prices.
It would be worth registering domains for many years in advance if you plan to keep them. Verisign has the right to increase prices by 7% per year for the next three years, which means the wholesale cost will probably be $10.26 by the end of 2024.
Best DEAL!
$6.99 .com transfers ALL INCLUSIVE baby!
Samer
Are you talking about Epik Samer? Received a letter they were keeping their renewals at $8.49 “indefinitely” and continuing $6.99 transfers and $7.99 for all new registrations. That video “HOLD THE LINE” in their twitter is FIRE!!!!! Not sure why everyone is reporting that registrars all shifted their prices. Far from true. Time to move the rest of my domains. This was the letter I got. Tell me who else in our industry thinks this way::

I’m sure you have probably heard about the decision by Verisign to increase their pricing by 7% every year for the next several years. The first change goes into effect on September 1st, and most registrars have now shifted their pricing accordingly to absorb the added costs.
For the record, Epik was very disappointed at the decision, given the hardships and challenges that so many people around the world have faced over 2020 and 2021. We were also disappointed by the notable absence of a few of the largest organizations in domaining, and their decisions to stay out of critical conversations that saw our industry unite in a near-universal position against Verisign’s price hikes.
It is with this in mind that I wanted to let you know, that Epik will work to hold the line on pricing, as we encourage others to continue with their feedback and positive communications to prevent future arbitrary price increases. We have committed to unify our VIP and Wholesale tiers at the renewal price of only $8.49 yearly (inclusive of ICANN and Tax), and intend to keep this price tier active indefinitely as we work with others to also contain future increases.
Over these past many months, we have also been running special promotions for $7.99 on new .com registrations, and $6.99 on all inbound transfers for bulk portfolios. Epik continues to lead the way in new innovation for landing pages, free SSL certificates, secure Escrow, outbound marketing, special advertising subsidies, and other promotional advantages for our valued customers and domain investors. We intend to keep these promotions active into the future, as the real enterprise value for Epik is in the cooperative work to help portfolio owners achieve the highest possible ROI.
We remain thankful for the opportunity, and will never stop challenging ourselves to ensure that positive value generation continues to run high. Please let me know if you have any questions, and we appreciate you and your business.
Thank you Epik! HOLD THE LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahah
That’s good news if you’re OK using Epik. Should be just about break-even for the company after processing fees, but they’d start losing money next year when the prices go up again if they truly hold the line. Verisign offers some rebates, but I believe most of them are for new registrations.
my uniregistry prices went up 1.50 per domain. plus i have to pay hundreds for their “perks” garbage. dumb.
