Most people who responded to a recent survey would like this year’s Annual General Meeting to be held in person.
A majority of the 665 people who responded to a recent survey said they want ICANN to hold this year’s Annual General Meeting in person this October. The meeting is slated for Seattle October 23-28.
It would be the first meeting held in person since ICANN 66 in Montreal in November 2019.
More than half of respondents want to meet in person, even if it means reduced global diversity, a reduced program, advanced registration for sessions, and limited attendance due to vaccine requirements. Fewer than 25% were opposed to meeting under these circumstances.
People are overwhelmingly willing to put up with restrictions, too. For example, only 11% are opposed to a vaccine requirement and 10% to a face mask requirement.
75% said that if they had to answer today, they would attend the meeting assuming they can travel to the U.S. Many of those who replied no said it was due to quarantine or travel restrictions.
Borders are still closed around the world and quarantine requirements are in place. Vaccine availability is still uneven even in North America, with demand outstripping supply just north of Seattle in Canada.
Seattle, for its part, was the first major U.S. city to hit a 70% fully vaccinated rate among people 12 and older. 97% of new cases in the city are among people who are not fully vaccinated.

Was this survey done by the same people who said 70% of New Yorkers have already had the vax? I call fake on this survey… no way that over 70% of people would be okay with mask wearing (health risk), contact tracing (government tracking), testing etc, but especially getting the vax. It’s the same all over the world – push push push, con con con. Never. But good luck to anyone who will go along with it all, your choice. (Thank you for letting everyone else choose too. /sarc)

I think it’s because the people who took the survey actually go to in-person events rather than hiding behind their keyboard all day going down rabbit holes.

I took my daughter to tennis coaching last night and there was a sign at the gate saying “Players only. No spectators”. Parents were virtually crying at the gate in outrage while I just said aloud “Eff this” and walked straight through. They then followed. Nobody died from coronahoax. People are worse than sheep and filled with fear and they need their eyes opened by people of strong character. And you’re wrong… I only spend half a day behind the keyboard.
By the way, I carry with me a folder of documents and demonstrate to any person/business that asks for a mask or to sign with with govt spying app that it is all unlawful. I then hand them a Notice of Liability that they are breaking the law, complete with specifics laws they are violating.
Baaaaa, Andrew, baaaaaaaaaaaaa.
