Afilias USA exits its position in new top level domain company.
Domain name registry Afilias has sold its stake in top level domain name company MMX (London AIM: MMX), also known as Minds + Machines.
The company exited its 3.16% position in the company yesterday, according to a regulatory filing. This coincides with a large share buyback by MMX.
I believe that Afilias obtained this ownership when MMX acquired ICM Registry, of which Afilias owned a stake.
The selling entity is listed as Afilias USA, Inc. It’s possible that Afilias owns shares through other entities.
A representative from Afilias declined to comment.
With a market cap of about £41 million, Afilias’ stake would have been worth £1.3 million.
They would likely have a massive loss on that. At least they got out.
