These companies recently bought domain names at GoDaddy.
Who said exact match domains were dead?
GoDaddy released its top 20 public sales from July on Friday, and a handful of exact match domains stand out. One is Wallpapers .com; apparently, computer wallpapers are still a big business. Also, check out GPSTracking.com at $43,987. ShopGiftCards.com is another exact match domain and check out how BadBreath.com is being used.
It’s a bummer that GoDaddy has to wait three months to release its sales, but the upside is that there’s more time for the buyers’ identities to surface. I was able to figure out the buyer for almost all of the domains on July’s list:
fanbase.com $151,000 – Fanbase GmbH is a German startup that is releasing a system for content creators to make money. It’s currently collecting email addresses for its beta.
zcg.com $140,000 – Z Capital Group is a private investment firm with $3 billion of assets.
wallpapers .com $129,500 – OK, wallpapers used to be a thing. Like ringtones. Apparently, someone in Hong Kong thinks it’s still a big business.
iagent.com $102,000 – Magnifico Inc. in New York bought this domain. The owner is also the CEO of TLA Talent & Literacy Agency, which is likely what this domain is for.
greengarden.com $80,000 – Green Garden Products sells home gardening products under eight different brands.
supercoins.com $75,000 – Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart bought this domain for its Flipkart Super Coin program.
gofx.com $57,500 – GOFX is a forex brokerage.
anika.com $55,000 – Anika Therapeutics bought this domain and forwards it to AnikaTherapeutics.com
badbreath.com $50,000 – This is interesting. TheraBreath, a California seller of products for improved breath, apparently bought this product to forward to an Amazon page selling its products.
kaowang.com $50,000 – Kǎo wǎng translates as “Test Net” and the domain forwards to test preparation site 51Test.Net.
classrooms.com $45,000 – Grid Media Services, LLC bought the domain, which now resolves to a site with educational resources.
gpstracking.com $43,987 – The domain has a private Whois record and resolves to a generic page.
rentahome.com $40,000 – Triangle Properties & Asset Management, LLC leases property in North Carolina’s triangle of cities.
devise.com $39,000 – Domain investor Braden Pollock bought this domain.
skyriver.com $38,000 – The domain has a private Whois record and points to a Dan.com lander.
mortgage.org $36,500 – Mortgage.org has a holding page saying it’s coming soon.
shopgiftcards.com $35,000 – Payment technology company Interactive Communications International, Inc. bought this domain.
shakes.com $33,000 – The domain has a private Whois record and still forwards to an Afternic lander.
1sf.com $32,777 – Someone in China bought the domain name. It does not yet resolve.
mout.com $32,000 – Elements Industrial Storage Ltd forwards this domain to ban-air.com, which promotes its Ban-Air branded storage systems. I’m not sure what the domain stands for.
Looks like fanbase.com was bought by people from the domain industry which prior founded Team Internet, Tonic and ParkingCrew.
That’s a good catch. Assuming that person’s name is not too common. Perhaps taking some of that cash from selling to CentralNic to work on his next project.
Not a common name and Fanbase HQ is also in Munich where Team Internet and the others were founded.
