Göran Marby’s contract extended until 2024.
The ICANN board of directors has extended CEO Göran Marby’s contract by two years. The contract now runs through May 23, 2024.
Marby’s initial contract ran from May 2016 to May 2021, but it was extended by one year during 2018.
The board resolution approving the extension mentions a host of reasons for extending the contract, including ongoing initiatives that will extend beyond the current 2022 contract end.
One of the accolades in the board resolution’s rationale relates to GDPR. It’s interesting that the board would pat itself (and its CEO) on the back for its work regarding GDPR, as it is one of the organization’s biggest failures in recent years.
The resolution states that Marby expressed an interest to the board to stay in the role for an additional two years.
Financial terms for the remaining two years are not included in the resolution, but it states that the CEO is entitled to annual equity/cost of living adjustments if warranted.
Hi thank you for this article, however the link to the board resolution doesn’t appear to work
Fixed, sorry
