No more premium renewals as more names go through the channel.
I normally don’t write about individual top level domain names releasing or repricing their premium inventory. But I’ve sold two .cloud domains for about $1,000 each, so there’s actually some movement in the secondary market for these domains.
With this in mind, it might be worth reviewing .cloud’s new premium website.
.Cloud has released and/or repriced over 100,000 .cloud domains and made them available through the channel. Most of these domains were previously reserved and not available at registrars.
Additionally, .cloud has removed premium renewals. All domains now renew at standard prices, making it more feasible to invest in premium .cloud names.
The lowest tier starts at about $200 retail.

Premium renewals are a total turn off..at least for me, probably most investors.
I can, however, swallow a 1-time premium purchase price under the right circumstances.
Those high renewals cut domainers straight out of the picture.
I think, in a way registries don’t have regard domainers. Some maybe despise domaining. But if they sell domains, who cares who buys them?
I’m not really complaining though, because I think there are plenty of domains avail with regular renewal. And also, stupid-high registry prices only help support the price on any similar domains (with regular renewal) that might slip though the cracks.
So they look out for their interests, and I look out for mine. Then, as a domainer, their price-gouging actually supports my interests. As long as there are worthy alternatives to snatch up.

Andrew, if you browser their site and sort by price, you will find that the lowest price is $1050 for silly domains so I doubt they are going to pull in lots of domainers.

Actuall no. Its a bug in the price sorting. Still I can’t see how they are worth that money.
