Kassey Lee answers some of the questions readers have asked him about their domains, as they relate to China.
In this article, I would like to answer some questions readers have posed to me.
Does AR27 have any particular meanings in Chinese?
AR is an acronym for Pinyin phrases such as Ai Ren (爱人=spouse), An Ran (安然=peaceful), and Ang Ran (昂然=upright and unafraid).
27 rhymes with Pinyin phrases such as Ai Chi (爱吃=love eating), Ai Qi (爱妻=beloved wife), and Ai Qing (爱情=love and romance).
When put together, however, they do not necessarily create any particular meaning. Actually, I own many four character .com domains but I do not bother to try this approach. For example, I sold two four character .com domains last year to a Chinese buyer without any meanings attached. I believe they sell because they are short.
QIVJ.com is mine and QIVJ.cn seems to be a news network. Is that right?
Yes, QIVJ.cn is a Chinese news site. The site title is “tkhn 新闻网” (tkhn news site) but it does not seem to match the domain. Note that there is no Contact or About Us page. I’m not sure if it is a serious site and if its contents are original.
I own UUQG.com. What is UUQG.cn?
UUQG.cn is a recycling site that collects TV sets, air conditioners, beds, and a wide range of items. The site title is Jiu Wu Hui Shou (旧物回收=recycling of old stuff) and the company name is Ya Bo (亚搏). However, the domain does not seem to match either the site title or the company name.
