Kassey Lee explains why these recent domain purchases would be interesting to Chinese companies.
Among the 4L .com sold in February as reported by Namebio, I’ve found the following domains interesting from a Chinese perspective.
ZZGC.com sold for $1,205. The domain was acquired by a Chinese investor and is for sale at 120,000 yuan (about $18,000). Potential buyers include Zhong Zi Gong Cheng (中咨工程) whose corporate domain is ZZGC.com.cn.
CBRG.com sold for $1,161. This domain may be an upgrade for CBRG.cn (little content currently) and CBRG.com.cn (landing page only).
ZJCP.com sold for $2,650. This domain was acquired by a Chinese investor and is for sale now. It can be turned into many Chinese brands, such as Zhuan Jia Cheng Pin (专家诚聘=recruit experts), Zi Ji Cao Pan (自己操盘=do-it-yourself trade as in investing), and Zhong Jie Che Pai (中介车牌=brokering license plates).
YXBF.com sold for $1,026. This domain was acquired by a Chinese investor and is for sale now. Again, many Chinese brands are possible, such as Ying Xiao Bu Fan (营销不凡=extraordinary marketing), You Xi Bin Fen (游戏缤纷=rich and diverse games), and Ying Xiong Bu Fa (英雄不乏=no lack of heroes).
MFZJ.com sold for $1,211. This domain was acquired by a Chinese company. It is currently used for selling domains but MFZJ does not seem to match the name of the company.
PYYM.com sold for $1,051. Related domain PYYM.com.cn is for sale at 190,000 yuan (about $28,500). PYYM.com has many possibilities, such as Ping Yi Yi Min (平易移民=very easy immigration), Pei Yang Ye Ma (培养野马=to educate wild horses), and Pei Yao Ying Ming (配药英明=to dispense medication wisely).

Add some comment: ‘CP’ means ‘CaiPiao'(彩票: lottery ticket), most of the LLLL.com domain names with ‘CP’ ending are with high price. ‘ZJ’ means ‘ZhongJie’ (中介: agent). ‘YM’ means ‘Yuming’ (域名: domain name). For Chinese who buys LLLL.com domain name, most likely, the first two, or the last two ‘LL’ has great meaning in Chinese.
Kassey Lee says
Spot on! Acronyms have many Chinese meanings and therefore make them versatile for creating brands for a variety of business fields.

Hmmm Acronyms are great if you have generic to drive the traffic e.g. CaiPiao – Choujiang247.com – Caipiaoyouxi.com to CP, 888 or any Acronyms.
East or West the generic sale of HealthInsurance.com last year for $8,133,000 was all about the ROI of the generic.
CP on Baidu has so many meanings none that cognitively lead to CaiPiao until you develop or change an existing incumbent lottery brand to CP
Kassey Lee says
I did a Baidu search on “cp” and the first one is Baidu Baike entry “coupling”. Nothing about 彩票 (Cai Piao) on page one. Not sure if it has to do with my geo location.
venditaauto1 says
Me tooo but I tend to think Baidu would be China centric no matter e the geo location unlike Google.
We all have an agenda and can understand why a 2L is important to international scale but if you have AA.com do you want to be BB.com CC.com etc?
IMO the generic cat killer is the one to have in an AI world.
Kassey Lee says
The China-centric point is interesting. I never thought about it.
