Customers will understand more about the domain’s history.
The message domain searchers get when a domain they want is taken is usually just “not available”. The customer then needs to move on.
Namecheap just launched a nifty feature that adds context to the result. When a domain is taken, Namecheap shows when the domain was registered. I think this is helpful, giving some context to the searcher. They didn’t just get beaten out to this domain; in many cases, it’s been registered for ten or more years.
If you click on the date, you get even more information (see picture above).
Namecheap CEO Richard Kirkendall told Domain Name Wire that the company plans to add sales data in the future. If the domain name previously sold, Namecheap will display the sales price (when available).
All of this adds up to more awareness for end users who search for domains. They will become better educated about the value of domain names, and it will hopefully nudge them to understand the aftermarket better, too.
This domain name search feature was a good idea. Sales data will help even more.
No more excuses by end-users!
Godaddy better taken a cue and get rid of their appraisal tool. They can show past sales but no appraisal so buyers stop sending $20 offers.Way to go Namecheap.
NameCheap is adding more and more features…
this particular one is very helpful indeed.
Thanks,
Ravi
I ask Namecheap since 2010 when exporting domain list to cvs or other format will be possible. Now is almost 2020 and they still do not have this feature.
Every Registrar I know have it but no namecheap. I have to email them and beg for this. I asked them about it recently and they sent me my domain list after 6 days, with other registrars it takes seconds.
That is an awesome feature to add domain history.
Good idea namecheap, hopefully more advanced
Now, if only Namecheap would take the issue of their hosting spammers seriously.
Thanks for the info… The big takeaway from this is the educational aspect for end users, hopefully overtime better understanding the aftermarket. Wouldn’t it be great if GoDaddy/Afternic followed suit?
Glad to know of such awesome feature.I will try it now
