Change applies to non-expiring domains bought and sold on NameJet.
NameJet is changing the registrar it uses for “direct listing” sales from Enom to Network Solutions.
This means that people that list their non-expired inventory on NameJet will need to transfer the domains to Network Solutions upon sale. Buyers of these names will get the names at Network Solutions instead of Enom.
Inbound transfers to Network Solutions are available for $9.99, which is actually lower than Enom under its current pricing.
The change is due to Network Solutions’ parent company Web.com aquiring the 50% of NameJet that it didn’t own from Enom’s parent company Tucows.
Many domain investors look at Network Solutions as a “necessary evil” for expired domains. The registrar has great inventory because of its age, but transferring domains out to a domainer-friendly registrar is painful; you cannot get authorization codes immediately and instead have to wait several days.
I will never sell another domain on Namejet if this is madatory. They must be out of their minds if they think domainers will do this. Good luck with that dumb change in policy.
How many were you selling on NameJet?
Yeah i can see this hurting inventory. But thankfully this will go back to real drops and not reserved bidding on most of its inventory.
Would it be possible to make a worse decision? Certainly this must be aware how despised NetSol is among their primary customers. I guess not…
Pro Tip: If you call Network Solutions they will send the authcode to you the same day. You shouldn’t have to phone any registrar to get an authcode quickly, but at least this helps make a painful process slightly less painful.
I’m probably in the minority here, but as a lower-volume buyer I prefer NetSol to Enom. The 42-day auction lock at Enom won’t be missed.
I hope Namejet will still arrange lower priced transfer fees at NetSol.
My feeling is that this change will have more of an effect on buyers. Buyers that don’t want to have their new purchase going to NetSol.
9.99. The earlier deal at enom was $10 and I don’t know if that was still in place
RIP
Maybe end users do not mind surprise charges, but domain investors do.
Namepros is full of horror stories of NetSol bad practices.
Lots of people would rather loose a potential auction on namejet rather than have to open an account on network solutions again.
But now since ownership has changed, I can understand their default choice.
This decision will prove to be disaster though.
