Company pays nearly $500k for betting domain name that was once an active site.
The domain name BettingOdds.com just sold for £390,000 on Sedo. That’s about $488,000 at today’s exchange rate.
GamingUSA, a company actually located in the United Kingdom, is listed in Whois as the buyer.
According to a press release from 2007, the domain sold for $3,630 in a Moniker auction back then.
But the domain has been developed since then. Backlink checkers show thousands of links pointing to the domain name.
GamingUSA apparently didn’t acquire the site, however. It has a coming soon placeholder on the domain name.
The seller also owns BettingOdds.co.uk. That domain sold for about $11,000 in 2014.

Another classic example of a multi-word domain being far more valuable than many one word and shorter ones.

Andrew…question? What happened to your blog post and the responses to your typo; “BeddingOdds” instead of “BettingOdds”? Am I missing something or is it gone? Inquiring minds would luv to know. Thanks

That’s a good question. I fixed the title but didn’t delete any of the comments. I think they were comments, right? Sometimes I get confused by if someone comments here or responds on twitter.
Richard Morris says
That’s ok…no big deal, but there were comments. I don’t do twitter so they must have been here? Spoke with a friend of mine who owns: http://www.casinosunlimited777.com/ yesterday about BeddingOdds.com, and he thought it was pretty funny. Enough that he will try to get some exposure for me. Wish us luck Andrew because you deserve a commission if we sell it.☺
Andrew Allemann says
I thought it was funny, too, so I don’t see why I would have deleted the comments. Perhaps I goofed.

mystery solved
Mark Thorpe says
Plural domains and domains ending in “ing” still matter and have value outside of the domain bubble.
