Google Adsense continues to move away from text-only ads.
Is the Google Adsense text-only ad about to die?
Google sent an email to Adsense publishers today detailing some changes to its ads. It says:
We’re moving towards richer ad formats, phasing out text-only and display-only ad units to further improve user experience, and to fully reflect the pool of ads we have in the market. As a result, the “Text ads only” and “Display ads only” ad units in your account have been renamed to “Display ads” and from early 2019 will be updated to serve all ad types.
Text ad styles
We’re deprecating text ad styles for “Text & display ads” ad units. From now on, you won’t be able to create ad styles for your new ad units. Your new ad units will have Google-optimized text ad styling. As this feature is being deprecated, your existing ad styles will also be optimized by Google in the following months.
Google frequently adjusts based on the performance of its ads. Its text ads have become more stylized over time, adding simple elements like arrows. Now they are shifting more to include graphics and other elements.
The image at the top of this post is an example of new ad styles that Google says publishers might see on their websites. Note the addition of a logo with text or text overlaying an image.
While these might perform better, I doubt we’ll see many graphical elements on Google’s own search results.

You may look to Google as a search engine that will help you to be known to customers who are searching for a business similar to the business you are doing, but since Google got into the domain business and chose to be an ICANN registrar, they have formulated their search.
The first thing they did – If you are searching for any keyword for any domain names, you will find that Google is on the top of the search results. This gives Google, at no cost, a great advantage to register a domain name, first because they are well known, and second because they are on the top of the search, so they have an advantage over any competing domain registration companies. The most dangerous of all, is if you have a business selling domain names and somebody is looking to use your company. For example, if you search for my company domainsnext.com on Google, the first results to come up are those chatrooms that talk bad about your business, so all the negativity comes first, unexplored and unverified. I.E., when I search for DomainsNext on Google, I see irrelevant results to my business, followed by a Better Business Bureau rating of F, since I did not answer their inquiries, and after contacting them to change my rating to an A, not paying $500 to be a member. After that result, you will see a 2004 Web Hosting Talk, of somebody complaining about transferring a domain name, which I had nothing to do with, since I am not a registrar. After that, a 2003 article about domain transferring. They have not brought one positive thing about my company which was established 20 years ago. Don’t laugh, if you are in the domain business, check out what they are showing in the search results about you. You will be shocked.

Wow, thats a 20 years old website indeed. The interface is not only “not mobile friendly” as stated below, it is even “not widescreen friendly”, from the age of 4×3 displays. No https of course. Good for you if you still have customers but if I were you I would seriously consider updating the front end. Especially given that your pricing is way above the market…

Your website is not mobile friendly….looks very bad.
I did a search for domains next and domain.com came up first.
I would never register a domain on your domains next.

Look how is talking.

The criticisms above are warranted, and in no way come across as “mean-spirited”…perhaps you should update your site? Godaddy’s current landing pages are cheap, very easy to set-up, and are mobile-responsive (which will help with your Google ranking). It would take you maybe a couple of hours to re-input your info into the new site.

It used to be that you would get banned if you showed an image next to adsense text ad. Now they are incorporating the images themselves. How the times have changed!
