Is company ready to launch sites on .apple?
Apple has registered three new domain names under its .apple top level domain, suggesting that it might introduce new websites or experiences using .apple.
The company registered Wallet.apple, AppleCash.apple and ApplePay.apple this week.
This brings the total number of domains in .apple’s zone file to 16. Names are added to the zone file when they are registered and assigned nameservers. The domains are:
applebooks.apple.
applecard.apple.
applecash.apple.
applemusic.apple.
applenews.apple.
applenewsplus.apple.
applepay.apple.
applepodcasts.apple.
appletv.apple.
appletvplus.apple.
edge.apple.
experience.apple.
newsroom.apple.
nic.apple.
share.apple.
wallet.apple.
All of these domains except for Experience.apple have apple.com nameservers. Experience.apple has Amazon AWS nameservers and forwards to Apple.com.
“Is company ready to launch sites on .apple?” – I really doubt Apple is that silly, especially given the experience of other .brand’s. These will sit around doing nothing.
