January and February tend to have a spike in domain name purchase inquiries.
The first two months of the year tend to be good ones for domain sales, or at least domain name inquiries.
Ryan McKegney, CEO of domain offer system DomainAgents, says that the platform has a 10% spike in offer volumes during January and February each year. Many other platforms (and large domainers) experience a similar bump.
Multiple factors seem to be at play.
“Companies often have new budgets and individuals are pursuing their New Year’s resolutions,” McKegney told Domain Name Wire.
The latter seems to be a big factor for smaller domain sales of $1,000-$3,000. Many people decide to start a new business or “side hustle” in conjunction with the new year.
Whatever the reason, domain investors should take advantage of this by making sure their portfolio is listed for sale and all domains link to relevant “for sale” landers.

Why does domain agents always make a $199 opening offer, this pretty much kills any deal?

Also not
forgetting they also say they would give you part of the enquiry fee even if the offer is terrible.Turned down a 1k offer and still waiting for part of my enquiry fee for refusing. Not selling my 50k name for 1k.

Most companies operate on a fiscal year that’s not the calendar year, so I don’t buy the company budget argument… I would attribute some of the Jan/Feb spike to NamesCon happening end of January.
Andrew Allemann says
Most companies? I doubt that, at least in the U.S.
Rubens Kuhl says
Actually, this mostly happens in the northern hemisphere, US and Europe. In countries south to the Equator, calendar and fiscal years usually coincide.

February. Match and September always have been my best. Worst is December.

I believe we also see a spike in domain sales due to resolutions. Finally going to get that domain. Finally going to start that company. I had 3 significant domain sales in feb and March of 2018 via major brokers. Then I went through a period when I couldn’t close a sale even when large companies contacted me. Well, not large, but at least 50 million in funding. I was snakebite for 6 months. It’s a brutal business for most domain investor.

Well everybody keeps paying up in the aftermarket like its 1999, especially TARYN, top bids on majority of namejet top stuff. AM Dial is loud, and clear.

Frank will never live down his .Com AM radio comment. Nor should he.

I don’t think there’s a particular month for a high or low inquiries. It all depends on the domain name and what the end user is willing to pay for it. Domain make offers can sometimes lead to extremely high sales but attracts a lot of low ballers. Buy now helps liquidate domain names a lot and attracts impulse end users. Whichever way, what works for you might not work for the other person.

Yesterday alone I got 140+ visits on my 300+ domain portfolio at Undeveloped…
No inquiry…I think bots.
But still a posuposi sign I think according to this article 🙂

I strangely got more offers (and 1 huge sale) in the last week of December than I did in the previous 6 months. Here’s hoping the streak continues!
