Private equity firm that flipped Host Europe Group buys another European hosting company.
A European web hosting and domain registration company is changing hands.
Private equity group Accel-KKR is selling One.com to another PE firm, Cinven.
The sale price wasn’t released but One.com has over 1 million customers, 270 employees and revenues estimated at about €60 million.
This isn’t Cinven’s first rodeo in the European hosting market. It acquired Host Europe Group in 2013, built it up and then sold it to GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) for $1.8 billion.
Cinven hints at an acquisition strategy in a release about the deal:
There are opportunities to accelerate the growth of the business organically and through acquisition: Cinven’s strategy centres on helping One.com realise its growth potential drawing on its sector expertise and experience through its successful investment in HEG.
One.com is an ICANN-accredited registrar. It has about 25,000 .com domains under management but I suspect much of its business is in ccTLDs.
Arma Partners advised One.com on the sale.
