Company tests putting its logo on landers promoting domains for sale.
GoDaddy has added its own branding in addition to Afternic branding on some For Sale landers as part of a limited test. Here’s an example:
So far the test is being run on a subset of GoDaddy’s own domain portfolio.
Customers have asked for a branding change on For Sale landers for a while. The current standard template is branded with the Afternic name, which has little brand recognition with the typical end user domain buyer. Adding the GoDaddy branding should instill confidence in domain buyers.
The test landers also improve the responsiveness and loading time of the landing pages.
Hopefully, GoDaddy will roll this change out to customer landers as well in the future.
Hey Andrew we do intend on rolling this template to our customers. The plan is to first test these on our own portfolio to make sure conversion is improved prior to any broader launch.
Cool. The form still doesn’t fit on my iPhone screen so there’s some sort of responsiveness issue there.
Lost traffic = lost sales
Still losing all https traffic (https://www.cuisine.com doesn’t load)
Still losing all random subdomain traffic (http://ww.cuisine.com doesn’t load)
Losing all after domain variations to the afternic branded page instead (http://www.cuisine.com/dog.html goes to afternic branded page instead)
Thanks for pointing this out. We’re just testing traffic to the primary domain right now, when we roll to 100% we’ll make sure the variants get directed correctly as well.
Great to hear that from the top. I’ve been giving this feedback to Afternic/Godaddy for years and it still hasn’t been corrected on the Afternic branded landers. Maybe you can get that taken care of?
We paid a guy on odesk a couple hundred bucks and he had all the variations forwarding properly in one day for our own hosted landers. Hopefully you can commit a couple hours of one programmer’s time to address this ASAP. The ROI on that time would be incredible. Thanks!
Well said I don’t know why they don’t invest some times into this cash cow, even one programmer just for innovation, they can make their money back in about a week.
I believe that these clients do not have the culture of knowledge of what was AFTERNIC trademark, before being with Godaddy, I with Afternic year 2007 see this link https://freshdrop.com/home/about make my first auctions domain names (.com) were my beginnings without being a domainer. I am a domainer since 2010.
Happy Day. Jose.
Maybe then the landing page will be able to fit the entire name in one line. I switched to ns3 ns4
nameservers and my 11 letter .com shows the name with the “m” on the second line. Looks sad daddy
I didn’t mention this in the post, but Paul said the test landers can now accommodate up to 18 characters.
Has this template been rolled out for all the GD/Afternic customers?
Yes
Thanks Andrew!
Moved all my names from Dan to Godaddy/Afternic landing page 🙂
