German country code domains sizzle in monthly auction.
Sedo’s October Great Domains auction ended yesterday with a higher-than-usual tally of $350,000. It was the highest-grossing Great Domains auction of 2018.
The top sale was wg.de at €102,501. WG is short for a flat/apartment share or dorm in German. There were 35 bids and the domain easily eclipsed its €65,000 reserve price.
NFC.com sold for €68,200. While higher than most three-letter domain sales to investors, NFC is short for near-field communications. NFC is used for contactless payments such as Apple Pay.
NOVO.com brought home a top bid of $52,999. Novo is a very popular name for companies. Just Google it.
Other top names include grillen.de (Barbecue) for €41990, wc.de (Water Closet) for €29000 and yal.com for $20,500
Nick says
Surprised the NFL doesn’t own both NFC.com and AFC.com since that price is nothing for them.
Mark Thorpe says
NFC.com is worth way more than that. Like you said “near-field communications”, Payments etc.
