Auction will show the investor appetite for crypto domains.
Sedo announced that it will hold an auction September 13-20 that will exclusively feature cryptocurrency and blockchain-related domain names.
It’s a bit surprising that no other major marketplace has held a similar auction given that this market has driven the domain market over the past year. Since the beginning of 2017, Sedo has recorded $1.7 million in sales of names containing crypto and blockchain terms.
That undercounts the overall impact significantly. Crypto and blockchain companies are also buying generic and short domains that lack these keywords. For example, many are buying three letter domain names that end in “x”, standing for exchange.
Here are Sedo’s top 10 public sales of crypto and blockchain domains:
cryptoworld.com 194,888
cryptonews.com 50,284
payether.com 45,000
blockchain.ventures 42,000
securechain.com 30,000
block-chain.com 30,000
bitcoin.casino 28,000
paybit.de 27,915
cryptogold.com 19,000
blockchainwallet.com 15,750
Sellers can submit domain names for free if they meet the qualifications. Details are here.
How i can submit my name ?
Not finding any option to submit the name ?
Please let me know the link.
No submission link
I remember back in the good old days when the latest buzzword was “3g” and loads of morons rushed out and registered 3g.com hoping to become instant millionaires.
Damn, part of my post got deleted by this web system I’ll try again using a different delimiter…
…and loads of morons rushed out and registered 3g[any_stupid_keyword].com hoping to…
Make the money while the sun is shining bro. . . . quit bringing the clouds. 😉
The point is, they were registering worthless domains _just_because_ they included the lastest buzzword in them. The only people that made money in this case were the registrars, Verisign and ICANN.
Andrew, Could you provide a link to submit these names? I couldn’t locate one on Sedo’s site. Thank you, Steve
Hi guys,
Thanks for the questions!
You can submit your names through the domain management in your Sedo account here https://sedo.com/member/dnmanagement_ext.php?language=us
Are you going to advertise it to possible end users or we’ll see yet another auction with names selling at 0.1x of reasonable retail?
How i can list my names for this event ?
Find the domain in your account and select “promotion” to submit it.
Thanks for replying.
Hopefully better than that disastrous .co auction
Thank you, Andrew. Always solid support. Super work, as well as the end user domain sales.
Anyone knows where to submit?
1. Log in with your username and password in sedo.
2. Go to My Domains under your user menu.
3. Select the crypto domain for special crypto auction from the dropdown of promote domains.
4. Select your language and reserve price.
That’s it.
Do I select “Order a direct Auction” from the promote domains drop down menu?
I don’t see anything about a special crypto auction
Thks
That was a special auction that time, you can’t apply now. Direct auction is different thing, where you can auction any names directly on their website.
